Blues Rugby & G-Shock NZ announce the release of a Limited Edition Collaboration watch

NZ Rugby World team

Author short introduction. Three to five lines of brief description.

The Limited Edition watch has been designed in collaboration with Blues Rugby & takes on many elements from their history in the Super Rugby competition since 1996.
Using the popular large case G-Shock GA-700, the watch band features a unique water pattern which represents the four tides of Te Moana-Nui-A-Kiwa (Pacific Ocean) & Te Tai-O-Rehua (Tasman Sea). The band also includes the four stars, each representing the four Super Rugby Championships as well as the date stamp ‘EST. 96’, the foundation year of the Blues as well as the clubs first championship. The tag line ‘WE ARE THE BLUES’ is printed at the base of the strap which represents all people within the Blues region.

Each watch comes in a bespoke numbered box, limited to 151 pieces. It features embossed logos of the Blues, the Four Stars, EST. 96 & “WE ARE THE BLUES” on the exterior. Inside the box is a message from the Blues explaining the design elements, while the watch floats amongst the four tides water pattern.

Blues Captain Dalton Papalii was involved in the concept & design and had this to say about the collaboration:

“We were stoked to be able to collab with G-Shock. We wanted the design to represent our people, our place and our past championships. We are really proud of the end result and hope our Blues fans think it is as epic as we do. Thanks to G-Shock for the opportunity, it is a special project to be a part of..”

The Blues is one of the most successful and storied clubs in world rugby. As winners of the inaugural Super Rugby Championship they have a legacy of 4 championship titles.  The Blues club has produced some of the biggest rugby stars and household names - Sean Fitzpatrick, Sir Michael Jones, Zinzan Brooke, Carlos Spencer, Keven Mealamu, Rieko Ioane, Jerome Kaino, Ofa Tuungafasi to name just a few.

In 2021 the club blazed the path for the first ever Women’s Super Rugby game to be played in New Zealand with it’s success proving a large influence on the formation of Super Rugby Aupiki, a stand-alone Women’s Super Rugby competition commencing 2022.

The Blues have a great rugby legacy to honour, a responsibility to live up to the region they represent and a duty to return and retain the Super Rugby champions title to its rightful home.

G-Shock, which is soon to celebrate its 40th anniversary, is a global powerhouse, connecting with sport, music, artists and youth culture around the world. The line of watches, manufactured by Casio, is famous for its resistance to mechanical shock and vibration. G-SHOCK continues its unceasing evolution in pursuit of greater toughness in every respect, from structure and materials to functions. Stronger than ever, and targeting even greater strength, G-SHOCK's challenge is never-ending.

The watch is available to purchase via the Blues Official Online Store for $299, launching 01.06.2022
